Throughout the season, FC Wichita has shown that they have developed a never say die attitude that has won them points late in games against Dallas City, Regals SCA, and just recently the Shreveport Rafters. Scoring late has become almost a trademark of this John Markey squad. But the script had one further twist in the tale this week against the second-place Dutch Lions.
It was the clash of the titans, as two of the top five NPSL teams in nation faced off this week in Wichita. FC Wichita being ranked number three after winning 13 of their last 14 matches leading back into last season, and Tulsa after winning four games straight after a tough start to the season.
It’s often symptomatic of dynamic championship teams to know how to win in different ways, and that was in full display against Regals SCA. Compared to the free-flowing and free-scoring fashion that the CFCSA game unfolded, this game was rough, sloppy at times, and hard-fought.
Just got off the phone with my life insurance agent, because I’m not sure how much more my heart can take.
After last week’s insanity where FCW scored twice in stoppage time to win against Dallas City, there were very few ways they could top that performance in drama.
